I'm hyper today! Bon Jovi is in concert at the Toyota Center here in Houston tonight, and I have tickets! I love Bon Jovi. I just got out of the shower, and I'm thinking about exactly how I'm going to construct my rockin' 80's hair-do for the show tonight. (kidding. I can't stand hair spray and gel. I'll probably go au natural, as usual). I hope it's as fun as I think it will be.
I'm going to go to the library today. I saw Brokeback Mountain a few weeks ago, and I want to try and find the book it was based on. I checked on line, and at the library I go to it has 30 requests on the holding list. I'm screwed. By hopefully I'll find something else to keep my mind occupied while I wait for it to become available. I also wanted to try and check out Stephen King's "Cell" (per my friend, Camaron's suggestion), but there are 100 or so names on that list. Maybe I'll just go to Barnes & Noble and buy them, much to the dismay of my husband. He feels that if the library will let you read them for free, there's no need to buy books. But I think if I want to read them now, then dammit, I'm going to read them now. That usually means I have to purchase them. How else am I going to have books to one day fill my personal library?
I don't think I've seen the sun in a week or more. It's been overcast and chilly here. I like it. It was 80 degrees early last week, and that didn't seem normal for February. I like it to be cold when it's supposed to be. It's almost noon, and it's still foggy outside. I think while I'm out at the library I'll stop somewhere and get some hot chocolate to celebrate the drab weather. It will be nice to settle in with a book and some hot cocoa.

Well, here it is, my first entry. It's early, and not much has happened yet. I'm just drinking coffee and watching my cat, Henry, run around pretending he's a lion on a hunt in the Serengeti. I tried to pet him earlier (before I was aware of the game he's playing in his head), and my hand became his unsuspecting victim. Some peroxide and a band-aid later, I'm perfectly content to watch from a distance now. He's a paradigm-so cute and cuddly looking, but the second you touch him he becomes sharp teeth and claws...unless he's in the mood to be pet, in which case he must be pet or he turns on you. So either way, I'm screwed. I've gotten used to kitty-bites. As long as he doesn't find soft skin on the first bite, you can pull away before blood is drawn. If he does find that soft spot on your hand-typically the webbing between your thumb and the rest of the digits-he latches on and bites harder. So why keep him around, you ask? I suppose I like cheap entertainment. And trust me, it doesn't get more entertaining than when he goes toe to toe with my 70 pound dog...he wins every time.

But enough of the wild kingdom running amok in my tiny apartment. I keep meaning to start a dream journal, but never get around to it, so I think this LJ will serve quite nicely. I've been having crazy dreams as of late. The other night I dreamed of a wild cannibal woman that lived in the basement of my childhood home. She had decorated with various body parts (very Texas Chainsaw Massacre-esque) and years of dust. For some reason I was able to walk around unhurt, but anyone else that came near the house was doomed (as I witnessed first-hand). I'm not sure why I have gruesome dreams like these-I avoid scary movies for the most part, so I guess my subconscious mind is extremely morbid. This dream was very vivid. The lady attacked and killed these people without any sort of weapon-she just jumped on them and ripped at their throats with her teeth. yeesh.

Well, I think this is enough for now. I need to get around to my house cleaning, all the while avoiding my attack cat and trying to vacuum around my lazy dog who won't move if she has a comfy spot on the couch. She's so spoiled.
